2 girls

Well, I am officially pregnant until proven otherwise (PUPO).

I know I didnt have a lot of faith in Dr. Lu, even though he seemed certain we would have a transfer. I really thought we wouldnt have anything.

We went yesterday for the transfer and put back TWO normal females, so I might actually have a daughter. Shit, I might have TWO.

First we went to FINO (fertility institute new orleans) at 930am to wait for the results which we thought would come at 10. Well 10 came and went and we were still waiting. VERY stressful watching the clock getting closer and closer to the time for me to go to work.

At one point Dr. Lu came in and said there was some hold up with the machine that analyzes the results from the biopsy and that they were just waiting on that. He said it could be 1 hour or 4 but they had never had this happen before. I thought I was going to have a heart attack because I did not have 4 hours. I didnt have 3 either. I explained this and he made a call and it seemed everything was back on track and it would be 1 hour.

So then he came in with our results and we had 2 normal females to transfer. Wow!

We sent 6 embryos to PGD and FIVE of them were female. I couldnt believe it. My mom had been saying she thought they all would be female and she had been willing them to be girls. I kept telling her that is like impossible. Well not impossible but highly improbable. But here we are with 5 out of 6 being girls. Pretty darn close.

Out of the 5 females, 3 were determined to be normal according to the probes that were done. Unfortunately one of my normal females stopped growing otherwise I would have been able to freeze her. So that is kind of a bummer.

The transfer was pretty easy. They just slipped them right in and we watched on the monitor.  I didn't take the valium because I knew I had to go to work.  I rested awhile in the room and then it was time to go.  I was even having my assistant Leslie pick me up at the clinic because we needed to go directly to photographing our wedding.

Usually Dr. Lu would have me on bed rest for 48 hours but I can't do it.  I had to go work a 8 hour wedding.  Dr. Lu did say there really are no studies done proving that bed rest does anything and in fact in other countries women go back to work right after transfer.  So he was fine with me going right to work.
